Today was our third appointment over the last month and at this appointment they were testing him to see how much improvement had been made since getting his new glasses a month ago.
Today I watched as he worked through a reading test he has done the previous times we have been at the doctors. As with the other times you could tell that as he went further in the test his eyes were getting tired and he was losing steam and began to struggle. When he finally finished he looked at me, smiled slightly and asked, "dad, did I do ok?"
What a question . . . . . . I assured him he did great.
As his dad, I hate siting there and watching him struggle. I wanted to get up and finish the reading for him, but also knew that him doing the test and finishing it struggles and all is what is best for him in the long run. It also made me think if this is how sometimes we appear to God. We try so hard to do what He calls us to, we struggle, we try harder but at the same time grow weary and when we are done we ask,
"God, did I do ok?"
It is in that moment that God smiles at us and assures us that we did great.
